right, I get that, hence why I referred to it as a deus ex machina. Just saying, woulda liked it more had they chose a previous actual plot point rather than that.leokiko wrote: Kirito basically broke the system(exactly what Asuna did earlier) which is why they both survived. The creator didn't let her die because of that.
So, basically, IT'S THE POWER OF LOVE! lol.

If this was realistic, Kirito wouldn't have been able to even crawl, so this episode has to be fueled by the Power of Love.

^No, that was actually just stupid. I think it might have been explained on the novel, don't remember it now.
@Akonyl: lol I guess that would be better.

Re: Sword Art Online
I didn't really like this episode. There was more than one DEM here.
I liked how it was revealed that what's his name is actually the designer (which heavily explains why that his avatar looked the way it did).
Now to what I didn't like: There was a good cliffhanger from last week, but that thing was resolved in the matter of seconds in this episode. I also didn't like the bit about Kirito asking the designer to not let Asuna kill herself if he loses. Next, the DEMs:
1) Asuna breaking out of the paralysis and the designer is like "yeah, I guess this can happen sometimes"
2) Kirito managing to stab the designer even though his HP bar was already empty
3) Kirito (and Asuna, I suppose) coming back to life even though they should be dead (unless it's revealed that no one actually died, which would be another problem)
Also, what's with the hospital without any nurses and doctors?

3) A...villain's turnaround as a result of the Deus Ex Machinas....? Obviously I'll let this one go if it actually gets explained.

Everyone else would've woken up about 10 minutes earlier. The doctors and nurses were probably tended to them.Kor wrote: Also, what's with the hospital without any nurses and doctors?![]()
One theory I saw and liked was that Yui pushed through a final command to give Kirito the strength to win, hence the golden eyes.Kor wrote: 2) Kirito managing to stab the designer even though his HP bar was already empty
This. He stated as much in the cloud area, that he was impressed by someone surpassing the laws of his world.leokiko wrote: 3) Kayaba was impressed by the power of love so he didn't let them die.

Re: Sword Art Online
They sure did ruin episode 13's cliffhanger by making the conclusion of that battle extremely anticlimactic...
I would have liked the final battle more if it was won by skill. I facepalmed when Asuna stepped in... In a way Kirito got what he asked for considering she did sort of try to kill herself in his place. Still it was oh so very cliche and almost hard to watch....
You would think that by 2024 they would have better technology to reduce muscle degeneration. I also think Kazuto's hair would be longer after 2 years. *is being slightly nit picky*

Re: Sword Art Online
also regarding this, if you don't like the "power of love" explanation, I kinda thought of it as the avatar death not equating to person death. We know that due to the 10-second-rez item existing, that the actual player's death happens sometime after their avatar, so you can assume that the system then has to take care of the checks for "avatar's been dead long enough, kill their player". However, if the system has killed itself in a haphazard way, it may never actually trigger that in time, inconsequentially deleting their avatars prior to the killing, along with whatever code would have done the killing. Unless that check was being done by the NervGear along with the other reasons of death, in which case you'd be kinda boned.Kor wrote: 3) Kirito (and Asuna, I suppose) coming back to life even though they should be dead (unless it's revealed that no one actually died, which would be another problem)
but, in the context of the show, yeah they pretty much just say "power of love".
it's actually a pretty fair length for 2 years, also considering malnutrition. And if they're only keeping them oh-so-slightly alive (which I think is alluded to somewhere?) I doubt they'd go through with anti-atrophy procedures either.Soreiyu wrote: You would think that by 2024 they would have better technology to reduce muscle degeneration. Re: Sword Art Online
I guess my hair just grows excessively fast then. o_O;
Well Google search says average is 6 inches per year. It seems to very between individuals with some getting 10+ inches. Perhaps malnutrition would be about 3-5 inches per year?

I seriously can't recall the last time an anime has had a brother and sister turn out to not be so for any reason other than to have one of them have the hots for the other one.

Re: Sword Art Online
I think it's because so many people were hyping it up beforehand as being this super amazing, once in a lifetime series. Personally, I feel Accel World is miles better, but otherwise, I share the opinion you stated there.kkslider5552000 wrote: i love how this is one of the most popular anime this year and everyone's opinion is kinda "...eh...it's good I guess?"

Well, I'm loving it, but it's certainly not the best.
That goes to HxH.
