Lupin the 3rd 2nd Series: Subbed now showing OTA in SoCal
Station is 18.2 (Utbhollywood) which generally shows Japanese programs subbed in English. No idea how long the anime has been airing on the station, but Lupin is on daily.

Yeah, I heard about that. Do you know if the subs are actually good? That'd be incredible.Conan-kun wrote: Station is 18.2 (Utbhollywood) which generally shows Japanese programs subbed in English. No idea how long the anime has been airing on the station, but Lupin is on daily.

I read an article on ANN about it and a few people on their forum who watched the channel said that the subs were professional and very well done. The only problem was that no one knew how many episodes they'd be airing.Jing wrote:Yeah, I heard about that. Do you know if the subs are actually good? They also said that the first season of Lupin (if I recall correctly) was airing on the channel too

Unfortunately, I think they said that there were no online streams. But here's the ANN news article about it for anyone curious:

Edit: Interesting note backing up my previous claim:

Edit: Interesting note backing up my previous claim:
The subtitling is excellent and the the film print is pristine - apparently directly from TMS. They probably subcontract the subtitling to a company in Los Angeles. We're talking about the same Network that is also running Japanese with English subtitled movies and subtitled NHK World programs.
They ran through the entire first season which also had the Miyazaki/Takahata directed episodes. I'd never thought I'd see anything like that on free local TV.

Today, they aired #32 "Lupin the Interred". Wonder how far they will go?

The 18.X channels are digital channels. Remember the recent analog to digital change over? If you have a digital tv tuner, you can easily pick up these channels when you do a channel scan. If you've been using cable/satellite (which wasn't really affected by the change over), I think the .x channels will show up if you have a compatible receiver (not 100% sure, since I mostly watch OTA tv on the rare occasion that I do watch tv).ranger wrote: the heck? channel 18.2? Bay area translation: An over-the-air station similar to KTSF is broadcasting Japanese subbed programs on one of their subchannels. Channel airs "3 Minute Cooking" which in one Conan episode, the program was renamed "2 Minute Cooking".ranger wrote: the heck? channel 18.2? Is that on normal cable...

I would, but I do not have the equipment to record the show. The subtitles are in yellow and are relatively small, so they are not the most pleasant to look at. All the dialog seems to occupy in only a few words on the screen. Isn't the series already subbed? Is the quality that bad or something? Anyway although the translation may not be perfectly accurate, the dubbed version is more entertaining in my opinion.

Part of it is subbed by ILA, and there are HKDVD rips of a bunch more episodes, but the sub quality isn't that good.Conan-kun wrote: I would, but I do not have the equipment to record the show.
