Yeah, in general I don't really understand how people can stand her. All she pretty much does is yell. Don't get me wrong, though, I get why she yells (it's clear she's afraid of being a noone and thus afraid noone will see her standing so she makes sure everyone will hear her) and I appreciate what she does for the Doctor... but I don't really like her anyway.
Course everyone has his own opinions about that.
Probably the contributing factonr in this for me is that she's the first companion I knew. Sontaran Stratagem was the episode that started it all.
Rose was the first I saw... but to be honest I like Martha most of all, with Wilf as close second and Clara being third (if only she'd not be paired with the doctor right away and had more of a background... (I didn't really think she had a crush on him, more a kind of respect for him, but the way she was written in the later episodes was kinda disappointing)).
I guess out of Big Finish audiobooks I like Erimem and Evelyn Smythe the most. Classic episode wise I'm not sure yet, as I've only seen Susan, Ian and Barbara and Perry... I don't really like any of them.

I haven't really watched the Classic Who(at all) but I already like Nyssa.

Yesh, someone who likes Martha too! After seeing so much Martha-hate around the internet... Thank you!

I don't really know about Clara... I guess I liked her best in Snowmen... otherwise she's quite... I dunno. Plain.

I don't really know about Clara... I guess I liked her best in Snowmen... otherwise she's quite... I dunno. Plain.
She only really gets the hate because she directly replaces Rose and also has a crush on the Doctor at first. I only started to really like her after I started watching Donna's season. I mean, she left because she was getting sick of waiting for something that wouldn't come, besides being pretty badass already that deserves a large amount of respect.
As to Clara, I liked how she, at the start, didn't depend on the doctor taking actions. She didn't expect the Doctor to save her all the time, but I'm afraid she kinda lost her touch after she went from seeing every Doctor to not being able to let go of 11...

Speaking of Nyssa, I haven't seen but heard her in Big Finish dramas.... taking those into accound I guess I like her and Terlo... or however you spell his name.
Both are alien companions, so that's pretty cool.

Edit:
Looked it up, his name is Turlough, but I also realised I totally forgot the Brigadier... I love the Brigadier, he's brilliant!

I'm at the moment watching the Martha's season. 42 comes today. I have to admit her crush on the Doctor is annoying but she is honestly smart and the Doctor... well, he is the jerk and the fans followed his example.

I don't really get Clara. One could expect her to understand the regeneration as she's seen all the versions of the Doctor but instead this newest episode was Christmas Invasion all over again.

Haa... I could probably count on one hand all the episodes of Classic Who... Unearthy Child, Castrovalva, Black Orchid, Two Doctors, Five Doctors... plus Eight's movie. Yep, my knowledge is minimal. Fanfics and descriptions under dA-works have helped though. And one awesome DW fancomic!

Turlough... He was the ginger who tried to kill Doctor, right?

Possibly, he's pretty violent XD
I still love his sass though.
I watched several doctor who classic eps, two from the sixth doctor, some of the crossovers... some of the first season and regeneration scenes... that's mostly it.

Spoiler:
I just finished Deep Breath. It was pretty good for me, not one of the best I've seen though....Capaldi being the Doctor and finding his feet and post regeneration madness was quite good...almost the only good in the whole episode...though Strax and Vastra helped as well.
And then the 11th Doctor's phone call.....I just cried at that part :'(
Lets hope that stuff gets better later on
Also, on the who's better companion thingy....(beware, long rant ahead!)
Spoiler:
Well, I remember when I first saw Rose and all her episodes, I actually liked her and all the episodes she appeared in, she was an excellent companion. But then I went into the internet and saw the overwhelming Rose love there is out there and at the beginning I approved of it and even was part of it, but then the 11th Doctor came around and I still found Rose love everywhere. I mean, just go the FF.net and every bloody seconf fanfic is dedicated to her and her "awesomness" :| So for me, the internet and their obsession with Rose Tyler ruined the character for me.
Martha, on the other hand....I never disliked her really, and then after the Family of Blood incident I started to really like her. After the Master's episodes she had all my respect *nods* and I loved it when she came back when the Sontarans tried to take over the planet.
Donna...I found her to be awesome from the first moment I saw her till the very last and I still kinda hate the show for what they did to her *waves her fist to no one in particular* Plus her grandfather was just as awesome.
Amy......I never liked Amy that much....alone I've never really liked her.Rory on the other hand was quite good on his own. But the two together have made some of my most favorite episodes in the whole series and I will forever miss them
Clara....I think I still hate her for taking Amy and Rory's place :x I reallt can't seem to bring myslef to fully like her and the half of season 7 that had her in it was only good for me because of the 11th doctor, if it wasn't for him it would have been pretty boring :x
River....now River isn't a companion...because if she was she'd be my favorite companion. I liked her since I saw her in the Silence in the Library mainly because she is the only one so far who seems to be one step ahead of the Doctor(what with the diary and all). She knew what she was talking about, was independent and was a lot like the doctor, but yet not. She could make him confused and intrigued and heir flirting was always hilariously sweet to watch. Also, with her not really wanting to "spoil" him, there never was really outright obvious and blatant romance between them(all the time) which is what I like in a story, keep the romance to a minimum *nods*
Not to mention who's child she tuned out to be, that also made for my most favorite episodes in the series. I still truly and really hope that they bring her back really, the sooner they kick Clara out and bring back River/Mels/Melody the better *nods*

I can't stand river because she was only there for the romance and to be the Doctor's wife. If we believe Moffat, she had so little influence in his life the weapon of doom used to destroy Gallifrey chose to become Bad Wolf because she was "most influential"and not River, thus making her seem like nothing...
If she had been written better I might have liked her, but I really don't....

I'm kinda neutral about River... I don't hate her but I don't really like her either. Her whole backstory was simply insane and her love for the Doctor was more like an obsession. Like she said as Mels: "Of course I'd fall in love with him." Or something like that. It's like Ginny Weasley's crush on Harry Potter.
Maybe because I didn't care about Amy that much as I liked Rory had also something to do with it.

I think she was more there to bring actual true and honest romance, not just the one-sided love we often see from the companions(Martha, Clara), or the "yes-I-love-you-but-have-my-clone-instead" love(10/Rose).
