Bot sure how it's now with the prices.

But when wii and xbox came out, you had to pay more for wii + 2 controllers + what else you need for 2 players than for a xbox with 2 controller thus for 2 players :|
PS3 was the most expensive of those.

So how exactly was the wii "safe"? :p Considering wii is a party-console, so you need more than 1 controller. While for the xbox, you can play solo easily too.

nunchucks and absolutely nothing else (outside of the like 3 games that use Motionplus)

a ripoff sure, but not any more than having to pay 50-60 dollars for a single video game

they will, it sucks, I payed 60 dollars for a 5 hour game recently when I could just be replaying an infinitely better game called World of Goo for the 5th time (total play time at this point's probably at 30 hours) despite being a 1500 Wii Points game, games are usually ripoffs, nothing new here.

Ok guys, here's an announcement on nintendo's new proprietary disc for the wii u. The disc will have a 25 gb capacity. http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/06/wi ... games.html

There's something iffy about the article though. I thought blu-ray discs were 50gb?

Ok now you can continue on speculating about the price of future wii u games :). Will it be at the same price as xbox360 games (around 7.5-8gb per disc) & ps3 games (25gb/50gb - i'm not sure about the capacity anymore >_<)?

Prices are not really about the disc capacity, right? Taking into consideration that nintendo call this their proprietary disc. Great job nintendo, you avoided paying sony for their blu ray discs (power to nintendo!). Will they charge the consumers more for their 'new' technology or will they charge us less than what sony asks for?

Wow, no gamecube controllers? Super Smash bros. hmm.

Video game prices don't heavily depend on the disc size I believe - manufacturing the discs is literally like $.75-$ 2.00, bluray discs cost a little more, so I don't think its an issue.  The reason why 360/PS3 games are 60 is because you have to pay  a "console royalty" to Microsoft and Sony, which is usually around $12.

Nintendo charges around 10$, and this is why PC games are always cheaper, no console royalties.  The reason why I believe the wii games were 50 dollars in comparison to the 360/PS3 games was probably due to quality (essentially gamecube software)

So, I'd think Nintendo possibly might charge 60 for their new games, which i wonder how much the next gen Sony MS games will cost then, considering they'll have at least a year's worth of tech development..

EDIT: Also, one controller only for the wii u http://www.gigwise.com/news/63859/Ninte ... Controller
..wow.  According to this article, if people want to play multiplayer games, the extra controllers will equate to your Nintendo 3DS's.  250 dollar controllers, eep.  I just wanna go to a friend's and play super smash bros man..

Also, while I'm sure Nintendo's announcement conjured a lot of appraisal from their loyal fans and some question marks for others, it definitely didn't do so hot business wise - 10% drop in Nintendo stock - which is expected, no one was expecting monstrous sales like how they did with the wii again.  Also, not really showing anything except a controller could be another thing too.  Shuld of waited for next E3 so they could actually get some devs for their 3rd party games.

Well, they're not selling controllers by themselves, only with the Wii U, so If I had to guess, I'd say that maybe wiimotes can be used for mulitplayer, while only 1 Wii U controller can be connected to 1 system at a time

yeah, that's what I figure. So basically, anyone who gets this but doesn't have a 3DS or Wii and still prefers split screen multiplayer to online is screwed (all 5 of them).

But just imagine, how much would an extra Wii U controller cost, if it weren't to use the 3DS....

And apparently (idk if this was stated already) a new Super Smash Bros. is to be released on both the Wii U and the 3DS. Here's the catch, they will support cross platform versus modes.....

I don't think anyone who is getting Wii U should be having high expectations on the online for the system.

Shigeru Miyamoto
"We're not going to sit here and say that our goal is to become the number one online gaming company, because that's not our goal,"
"But, understanding that the types of experiences our consumers like to play do often contain elements to them that can be improved or may even require an online connection and also knowing that the system is going to have a browser I think suggests that obviously internet and internet connectivity is going to be very important for the system."
If you don't know who Mr. Miyamoto is, he's the one who created Mario and Legend Of Zelda. With him stating those two things, it's best not to have high expectations.

News Source - http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/arch ... nline.aspx
Sherlock Holmes - When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?

Conan Edogawa - A Detective who uses his deductive powers  to corner a suspect and then does nothing to stop that suspect from committing suicide...is NO better than a murderer himself.

i'm actually looking forward to the Wii U. i don't think it'll be that much more than the Wii was. maybe 50 dollars more just because of the controller. i expect it'll take a while for it to break like the Wii did. mine only recently started breaking where randomly it'll pause the game and won't let me play unless i unplug the power strip but it's a 1 in 100 chance that happens.

off-topic kinda:
but it seems like the new generation is starting way to early what with the PS2 still being made and Sony's currently making the PS4 which i'm hoping will be better than the PS3 since i got one with BC and that broke after a year so i'm stuck playing PS1 and PS3 games. and the analog stick sticks a lot when i'm moving the character. and the fan produces way too much noise if left on for an hour or more. and with the PSP it keeps having the screen which shows the battery level, volume, and 'do you want to quit' screen popping up while i'm playing for the last month.
might have to get a PSP 3000 to play normally but with the Vita, 3DS, and Wii U i might not be getting any games until next christmas.
