The Blacklist didn't really interest me bec I felt like (for the first air at least) it resembles Silence of the Lambs (film) too much. I liked that movie, but the first episode turned me off (I was like, eh, seen this before).

It's based on Victorian horror, as is probably obvious from the title, and it's pretty chock-full of gore so if that isn't your thing move along, but it also has Eva Green being spectacularly creepy, Billie Piper having a gorgeous Irish accent and Timothy Dalton having his usual epic voice. It has also, in its two episodes thus far, frequently featured vampires, Victor Frankenstein and Dorian Gray among its characters. Get on board.
.....Did you just mention Penny Dreadful? PENNY DREADFUL?!!!
I love it so far. The rather slow pace is really working for me and the cast is just amazing.
Spoiler: Episode 2
The Séance was just fantastic. Eva Green was so phenomenal. Also, don't get me started with that ending. I was kind of warming up to Proteus.

That scene gave me CHILLS. Eva Green was spectacular.

And I actually screamed when Proteus died. I was already heartbroken at the thought that we might watch his growth and slow degeneration into a monster and he was so sweet and I didn't want that to happen... WELL I GUESS IT'S NOT GOING TO NOW IS IT?! *sobs*

I've been watching Louie since the beginning (2010) and it really is a game changer in comedy, especially since season 2. Today's episode was magnificent.

Game of Thrones is like cheese - it gets worse and worse every season.

Oh well... conclusion post.
Spoiler:
The show is still plagued with endless padding, pointless scenes and scenes that go on for way too long, too much dull exposition, lots of boring minor and major characters, boring subplots and a lot of nothing happening. Seriously, this show constantly feels like it's scared of something interesting or meaningful happen.
At this point I'm left wondering if there's actually a story to tell here, or the show is just about introducing characters, killing characters, and moving other characters from place to place, while pretending it somehow matters. It's exceptionally bad whenever two or three characters decide to go somewhere on foot, because then you know you will have to see tons of pointless scenes of them in the wild doing absolutely nothing. Also, as far as the tendency to kill characters, it doesn't work; it made me passive in general and made me not care about the characters - why should I root for any of these assholes if I know they're likely to die? Then again, I don't have many characters to root for anyway, because the majority of the characters are uninteresting. At this point only Dinklage's character is left, but he's barely been in this season, so yeah. A bunch of characters died in this and last week's episode, and I don't even remember their names (besides the Hound, that's easy to remember).
I honestly wonder why the show runners made us watch scenes upon scenes of Theon getting tortured last season, cause not only was it redundant and unnecessary, it also barely had any consequence on what happened this season.
Arya was very useless this season (then again, I can't quite remember what she's actually done in seasons 2 and 3), and I'm scratching my head why she appeared in almost every episode. Showing her walking around with the Hound was not interesting, and it was obvious the show was trying to avoid from getting to the point.
Same for the dragon chick. This season she has also done nothing, but it's an even worse offender, because she was even advised to to go and attack the kingdom after Joffrey's death, but nope, she decided to stay and rule her territory, and in this show's logic, that means sitting on your ass and not do anything interesting.
Bran and his crew are the same as they have always been. Boring. Their endless meandering for 2 whole seasons have finally come to an end, but that section of the show has always been pretty stupid.

Last week's episode felt like an excuse for a 50 minutes battle. It felt like it was really trying to be Helm's Deep, without understanding what made the battle of Helm's Deep work. Overall, there was nothing really great about it.

Dunno why, but some of the finale felt a bit cynical. Almost every scene felt like it tried to bring some sort of closure to something, but a lot of those closures felt superficial because those things could have happened a few episodes before.

I think my biggest problem with this show is that we've spent about 36 hours overall on this story, and yet there's been very little amount of meaningful things actually happen.

Game of Thrones stuff below.
Spoiler:
You know, I realized here at the end that it's been so long since their "quest" began and so infrequently referenced that... I honestly don't even remember what some of these characters were doing or why they set out on their respective journeys. So little time has passed in the series itself that it's really, really easy to forget what the point of all this was.

I liked that Joffrey or Geofrey died in episode 2'ish; that kind of made me think something big would happen this season, in some form. Finally, a bad guy had died, and then it ended up really not mattering so much. In the end, this season felt a little bit empty with a lot of filler. I have a feeling the filler is only going to get worse as they do their absolute best to avoid catching up to the books.

Spoiler:
Speaking of which, another bad guy just got killed, so correct me if I'm wrong, but we don't have any "villains" left in this show. So either one of the existing characters starts to be evil (I.E. start being cruel and torture people because that's what this show thinks evil means), or a new character is going to show up and be mean and stuff.

All the major characters are now spread in different locations, so most likely a lot of their new conflicts are going to arise from new short lived minor characters who will probably be introduced in the next season. This simply can't lead to good things.
Also, apparently the majority of this season was still adapting stuff from Martin's third book, so the show already avoids catching up.

I'm really glad that I finally watched through Season 1 of Elementary. I am deeply and devoutly in love with Lucy Liu's Joan Watson now. She takes so little shit off of Holmes. I especially love him commenting that he knows she's not being irrational because of her period because he's figured her cycle and she doesn't start for ten days yet and she's just "yeah, because couching it as a scientific observation totally negates the misogyny." YES. THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Also WHY DID NOBODY WARN ME THAT NATALIE DORMER IS IN THIS SHOW MY HEART WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THAT *swoons*

Also enjoyed Johnny Lee Miller's version of Sherlock more and more over the course of the season, and how his relationship with Watson was portrayed. I think this incarnation of the pair might actually be one of the least romantic I've seen, and yet it still makes it very clear how much they love each other (platonically) and how devoted they are to each other. I love it. I mean, the crowning moment has to be when Moriarty asks if Joan is sleeping with Holmes and Joan doesn't even bat an eye, let alone give a shit, she's just "I thought you claimed to be as observant as Sherlock?"

I just love Lucy Liu a lot now okay

Also everything about Alfredo as a character. We need more of him. I hope there's more of him in season 2 and he doesn't end up horribly dead. Miss Hudson was sweet, too, so I hope she shows up more.
