Spoiler: Vague book 3 spoilers
Book three completely crushed any lingering hope that this "Lord of Light" was anything but bad news. Not that I had much since the shadow thing. I wonder how they are going to deal with that scene.
You finished that nearly exactly at the time I did o.O
My reaction to
Spoiler: ADWD chapter 69
Please let Jon be alive, please let Jon be alive, please...
I wouldn't be that worried if it had just been a single assassin, but seeing as most of the NW and the wildlings are with Jon, there'll probably be some fighting (though the pro-Jon faction would likely win; they vastly outnumber the others), and with three stabbing wounds in such critical areas, he needs immediate medical attention. Which he's unlikely to get amidst a battle.
So I read that the fourth novel wasn't that well received.
Do you think it will affect the next season and they'd change stuff to make it better for the TV show?
AFAIK, seasons 5 and (most of?) 6 (and probably partially 4) are going to be book 4 and 5 (AFFC and ADWD, respectively), told chronologically rather than split up by location (as in the books). I'd assume, though, that season 6 will extend beyond the end of ADWD, as it ends on a large number of cliffhangers.
Spoiler: all over all books
Also, being able to read up a bit on the wiki, I now do believe that R+L=J
Especially as that seems to be the only way to get three Targaryens for the three dragons. Also, it'd mean that Jon is alright :x

Pretty sure they said they'd like to end it at season 7, having already been informed how they should end it by GRRM. That tells me they'll likely finish through book 5 by season 5, book 6 part way through season 6, and then work towards their ending the rest of the season and brings things to a close in season 7.

I'd seem to me that only the second half of season 7 will be not-book stuff. Essentially, season 4 is half book 3 and half book 4/5, season 5 the middle part of b4/5, s6 half b4/5 and b6, and s7 half b6 and half original.
ie the theory that Jon isn't actually Ned Stark's son, but Lyanna's, fathered by Rhaegar, and that Ned agreed to pretend that Jon was his to keep Robert from killing him.
I´m kinda proud that I thought of it before learning that it´s popular theory :x
Same! I first theorized about it after watching Season 1 of GoT. I wasn't aware of (or missed it if it was mentioned) the promise Ned Stark made to Lyanna, so it was more of a crack theory. Then, the internet happened. XD
