Part 12:
https://youtu.be/MD-oBTU8adk

Day 16

I've been exploring Primordia maybe way too much lately. I'm losing track of time, and some of what happened after we completed out mission with Elma I've already forgotten about. I was told to really explore the place and I've explored this continent as much as I need to I feel. We've swam through this ocean and climbed 50 feet above where I first woke up on this planet. Elma and Lin seem satisfied with my work around the place, and that does me quite happy. But god damn if this place isn't annoyingly dangerous.

I am also glad everything worked out in the end. I didn't get a chance to mention it before but we went on a mission to find some parts of the White Whale on the beach far north on the continent a few days ago. We eventually ran into Doug and found that Irina had done missing. I had barely met someone and they might've already died and this really worried me. As quickly as we could went over to the top and had to fight this extremely tough simian monster. Indigen, whatever they're called. It took some effort and we had to retreat but we did beat it and afterwards found Irina in another nearby beach. Everyone seems ok, but I will say, I am really curious about Elma. She was apparently significant on Earth towards the end, but it's clear she won't reveal more about herself for quite a while. She's so strong, I'm really interested to know what her life was before NLA.

Night 17

This has been a very busy couple of days. Suddenly, I'm out on a different continent, and it certainly feels like it. It's even more exotic and strange than Primordia here.

First of all though, I kinda realized that we've been killing very young indigens all the time. I know it's for our colony, but seriously that might be a bit much. We went on a mission where we were gonna have to clear some out from a cave, but I couldn't go through with it once I was given the option not to. Everyone seemed supportive of this mission, including the person who gave it to me. I'm glad to know we aren't just remorseless killers. I've been fine with what we've been doing, for the sake of humanity, but I think things might've gone bad for me had I kept going like this without thinking about it. If it's necessary, I think I can still do it, but I hope it isn't...

It's funny thinking about how we ate chicken that night though. I guess us humans are a bit silly.

It was a very nice meal...Elma's very good at cooking.

er...anyway, we took on a new, much more crucial mission. A new piece of the Lifehold was detected in Noctilum. We've not explored another continent (or at the very least I haven't) but there was no one else at the time available for the job. I'm happy to explore somewhere new. On our way, we met with someone named Lao who decided to go with us. I'll work with him for now, but something about his attitude I'm not sure I like. I'll give him a chance and Elma seems to think he's a capable hand so we'll see.

But I have to talk about this continent. I am so floored by how beautiful Noctilum was. It might've been rude but I kinda wanted to ask Elma if anything on Earth was this beautiful. I'd like to believe so but I can't imagine it. We're resting at a camp right near the entrance. I believe I should get a little bit of sleep instead of just being amazed by the look of this continent.

Day 19

I guess I shouldn't be surprised but we're still so far away from our destination. I suppose we haven't really gone into Noctilum before so we're just exploring the place and trying to avoid indigens we can't handle (thankfully so far, they are limited to the air and water). It's just been a day of walking and fighting it seems, even compared to usual! It's almost exhausting...

But I am somewhat entranced by this place. This continent is beautiful. I still get distracted here or there by staring at this plant life. It's hard to believe this even exists. The others clearly appreciate it but I don't think they're nearly as mesmerized as I've been by this place. Tatsu is the only one who isn't, but that's not surprising as he clearly knows this place the best. Helped point us away from the water even! Lin's working with the camp we found to make us some food and after that we're heading into this cave. I think they called it the Whale's Nostril?

I kinda wish we could bring that tree with us. It's incredible.

Day 21
This has been a long road to get here. I don't even know who is to blame but we all thought the way up the cliffs to our destination was in this forest. I tried to find creative ways up there and even went for a swim but everywhere we went had no answer as to why we even assumed that. I don't even remember who suggested it, but someone messed up. It better not be me, I've had enough memory issues for one time thank you very much!

Regardless, we figured out the cave was our way forward the whole time. I should've figured that out. After fighting some bizarre giant spiders made of plant life, we eventually found our way to another basecamp high on Noctilum. And shortly after that we ran into a new alien species. I could not tell you what it is but the alien called himself "L". That's at least simple to remember. He seemed fairly intelligent, if slightly odd. Though not as odd as Lin thinking me shielding her was about getting in her way of seeing this alien.

I mean, I say that but since he wasn't hostile, I guess she was right?

Day 22

I’m kind of pissed right now. I don’t know who (it might be me for all I know) but someone caused us to be unable to reach this archive before the Prone did. They were seemingly lead by someone of a different species, the Ganglion. While we were able to stop them, it was destroyed. I feel like I let it happen since Elma let me lead the way through all of this. But no one has said anything to me about it. And for some reason, that pisses me of more! Why did I let this happen?! I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this angry!

But I guess it doesn’t matter, since no one has been blaming me. It’s just been a case where we need to look further into some things and continue doing our work for NLA. It’s obvious now we’re far from alone on this planet, so we do need to be careful. I need to put my all into my Blade work.

Maybe some shopping will get my mind off this…

Day 24

I really hope H.B. can stop being so obnoxiously self-important. We need all the help we can get and he’s clearly very capable of dealing with the rougher parts of Mira. If he really thinks he can become Blade Commander, that’s great, but I don’t think he’s gonna make a lot of friends on the way if he keeps this up. I don’t know why he even keeps doing this even when I keep proving him wrong. It just makes you look foolish!
Also, I do hope he wasn’t being serious about leaving that man to die. I get times are tough but that’s too harsh, and not even for good reason. We came right back for him and everything. H.B. did help us so he couldn’t have been serious, right?
Anyway, I’m not sure what job we should take next exactly. Right now, I think we’re just gonna get a bite to eat. Maybe we’ll walk around some more. Always good to get to know the people of NLA.

Part 20:
https://youtu.be/4p1NTSZ13-k

Morning 28

After all the ridiculous wasting of time I did with this team, I was glad to jump right into more missions. I needed to prove myself. But I didn't realize that my patience was going to be tested like this. Vandham asked my team to meet him throughout the day to see what he does on a day to day basis. Honestly, I do think sometimes Lin and Tatsu make some idiotic assumptions. Things are fairly relaxed compared to any military I knew back on Earth (though I don't remember if I was part of one or not personally). So, I do think this was a fair assignment/punishment, even though I perhaps question the necessity of spending time like this when we could be doing so much more for the colony.

To be fair, I would be much angrier than anyone here if Vandham was genuinely lazy. I've not been in the mood to see anyone at BLADE not doing something of value for the colony. But that leads us to what Vandham gave us to do. He told us to find an electric tentacle from a Duoguill. This lead to a long journey to the swamp like area north of the colony, where I had seen these creatures before. But that one so thoroughly beat us that I quickly realized it was a mistake. So I told everyone to follow me to the west where I had heard duoguills had appared near this place called Unicorn Rock. The trip to get there was confusing and I had no idea what I was doing. It was an area of Primordia none of us were familiar with yet I kept going through any pain to find some. Finally after seemingly forever we found some but none of them even dropped any.

At this point, I was so fed up with everything I punched the cliff wall and yelled. I looked back and everyone was looking at me. I just apologized to everyone and told them I didn't deserve to be leading this squad. It was apparent to me that Elma is a better leader anyway and she would help make this team more efficient for the colony. Lin, Tatsu and H.B. all tried to convince me I was doing a great job but I wasn't having any of that I suppose. But Elma then stepped forward and punched me in the face. I landed on my side, was hurting badly on the left side of my face. I was so stunned it took me a second to even comprehend that that had happened. She then looked down at me, with the same expression she normally has, and simply said that I had received my punishment for wasting the team's time. But she still felt despite that, that I had done a great job, so as my superior, she told me to keep going. I'm not even sure how, but that seemed to have worked, especially as the others kept bringing up examples of me accomplishing something and how long it has taken other new BLADE members to accomplish anything. I apologized and told my team that I would do a great job going forward.

Hilariously, right after we fought another Duoguill and was able to get an electric tentacle. So how about that. We just didn't destroy the right part of it at the right time before? Maybe? Regardless, time to stop worrying about wasting time, as that is also wasting time.

Day 29

Vandham is almost as exhausted as I am it seems! Ha, joking aside, I'm not really surprised he's actually a hard worker. I get why Lin might be suspicious of the guy considering his attitude at points, but it just seemed pretty obvious he works his ass off for the colony. I hope she learned her lesson to not make assumptions so easily.

Granted, I'm pretty sure I've assumed at least a couple people here are assholes at some point or another, so maybe I'm not one to judge in the first place. I dunno.

I am feeling a bit better. Elma's been helping out a bit more, since I think the stress of this was getting to me. Not sure I get it though. Why am I leading this group? Why does everyone follow me so easily? It's very odd. It's not like I'm incompetent or anything, but there are so many more experienced people here.
