Ok it's not really a game console, but it is a type of gaming system, as well as a work platform for school. While i already spent $2,000.00 on a laptop last year(mom and dad threw in $100, graduation present for college), i decided it was time i invested in a new comp. (No i am not made out of money, in fact if my bank loans were called in now i would be negative quite a few thousands...) I spent 1/2 the money i made from my summer job, and the other half is going towards loans.....

To be honest I'd just go with a single 8800 for a GPU, running SLI on lower end cards usually isn't as good as single high end cards, but this is just from what I've experienced. You also might consider some higher end ATI cards, as they usually are just as good if not better than nVidia cards in some cases. The other thing I might mention is that you might be able to save money in the processor area, having tons of power is great an all, but if you plan on gaming most games aren't really all that processor intensive. You don't need a super high end processor usually, unless you need to compile programs, or perform other such tasks that require lots and lots of calculations. But you can't totally skimp out on the processor or you'll likely get bottlenecks in sending out tasks to the GPU. Not saying that you are totally wrong in the setup, just mentioning things I'd consider with what you listed.

Ahh, I'm mostly old school.  I have all the old gameboy systems (execpt the original), an N64, used to have an SNES but it broke.., a PSP, and a PS3.  I still think nothing beats Super Mario64.

I own tons of consoles and games, but I only play some consoles now.

I play PSX and N64 on my PC, have a modded wii (USA launch with wiikey), DS Phat and Lite with Flashcard (Acekard RPG), PSP (fully modded, came with 1.50 USA launch), and PS2.

I have tons of consoles at home though:  NES, N64, Gamecube, PS1 x 2, another PS2, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, every single Gameboy (minus Gameboy Light - Japan only), Xbox (softmodded), 360, even the N-Gage and N-Gage QD!

I have a DS and a PS2. Both awesome and with plenty of playable games left (currently playing FF4 on DS and ZOE 2 on PS2...currently my favourite lol).

Planning on getting an xbox 360 because of Star Ocean 4 (my favourite series!) and since the selection of games on PS3 currently seems mediocre at best.
